Brendan Jamieson Joins the NWCC Outreach Team Serving Portland's Pearl District
A trusted new face focused on NWCC’s Humanitarian efforts.
The Northwest Community Conservancy (NWCC) is proud to welcome Brendan Jamieson to its growing Outreach Team. Over the past month, Brendan has been on the streets of Portland's Pearl District, focusing on weekend mornings and evenings—the hours when community needs often peak and resources are hardest to find.
In just a few weeks, Brendan has already made a measurable difference. His compassionate approach, professionalism, and willingness to engage with everyone he meets have quickly earned him a reputation as someone who genuinely cares and can be trusted. Whether he's working alongside individuals experiencing homelessness, coordinating with shelter providers, connecting with community leaders, or helping residents navigate day-to-day challenges, Brendan shows up ready to listen and ready to act.

In Brendan's Own Words
"I grew up in Portland and have seen our city change from a 'big town' into a major city. I've lived in the Pearl District since 2004 and have watched the neighborhood grow, flourish, and face its share of challenges.
In recent years, my understanding of homelessness and its underlying causes has deepened through both personal experience and my work with NWCC.
Working directly with individuals has given me a greater appreciation for the importance of meeting people where they are and recognizing the unique circumstances that result in a person living on the street.
As an outreach worker, I hope to make a positive difference in the lives of some of Portland's most vulnerable. Each day, I have an important task to accomplish: to help guide people toward shelter and supportive services, with the simple message—you are worth it.
That belief that every person has value and deserves a chance to succeed—is what motivates me to do this work each day."
Why Outreach Matters in the Pearl District
The Pearl District is one of Portland's most dynamic neighborhoods; a place where residents, businesses, visitors, and people in crisis all share the same sidewalks. Effective street-level humanitarian outreach is essential to keeping the district welcoming, supportive, and livable for everyone. NWCC's outreach team works to bridge gaps between people in need and the services that can help them, while supporting the residents and businesses who call the Pearl home.
Weekend Outreach Coverage
One of the strengths of our outreach program is that we empower our outreach workers to adjust their schedules based on where and when they can have the greatest impact. Rather than following a rigid schedule, they have the flexibility to respond to community needs, special events, weather conditions, and opportunities to connect people with services.
Brendan will generally focus his outreach efforts during the following weekend hours:
Friday: Evening hours
Saturday: Afternoon and evening hours
Sunday: Morning and evening hours
These hours may shift from week to week depending on community needs and events taking place in the Pearl District. For example, Brendan may spend time supporting outreach efforts around the Farmers Market when additional engagement is beneficial, while at other times he may focus on evening outreach when service providers are available and individuals are more likely to accept assistance.
This flexible approach allows our outreach team to be present where they can make the biggest difference, helping connect people with services, addressing concerns before they escalate, and supporting the overall livability of the neighborhood.
We trust our outreach professionals to make informed decisions about where their time can have the greatest impact, ensuring that both community members and individuals in need receive the best possible support.
